Oil Portrait Painting (Thursday)

Students will learn to do “realistic” portraiture in oil from a live model! During the first block in stage, the students will learn how to develop their composition, achieve accurate facial proportions, and mix colors to produce the individual’s unique skin tones.
Students will explore composition, brushwork techniques, and the use of light and shadow to represent the forms of the portrait. By applying these skills to their portrait painting process a true likeness and essence of the sitter can be achieved. Each student’s personal style and direction will be encouraged. Students at any level of proficiency are welcome.
