About Us
The Art Center of Northern New Jersey is a fine arts school and gallery providing adults and children a stimulating environment for the development of skills and practicing art in all manner of media.
The Art Center is committed to diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
It seeks to:
Build a strong base of understanding and appreciation for the arts
Provide professional-level instruction
Sponsor programs for cultural advancement and personal growth
Open its facilities to the community
Serve all without regard to color, race, creed or socio-economic status
Offer outreach events to High School students and to the challenged and disabled
History
Established in Englewood, NJ in 1957, the Art Center of Northern New Jersey has been an active participant in Bergen County cultural life for 65 years. We are the site of county and state-wide juried shows, a concert and dance space, a meeting ground for professional arts groups, and community cultural programs. We welcome and encourage everyone, regardless of ability, to get in touch with their inner creativity by helping them practice, view, and experience all aspects of the visual arts.
Our main floor has a large exhibition gallery, painting studio, photographic darkroom, office and a wheelchair accessible restroom. The lower floor has a fully equipped print room, stone and clay sculpture studio, and children’s art room.
With generous grants from the Bergen County Division of Historic and Cultural Affairs, the Art Center purchased and installed a handicap access lift which makes both levels wheel chair accessible.
Affiliate Groups
The Art Center is home to four groups of professional artists who meet regularly, exhibit and share information about their various skills. Each group exhibits bi-annually at the Art Center’s Marcia Geltman Gallery, plans additional group shows at various venues in the tri-state area, and invites guest speakers for critiques and lectures.
