Art Center Policies
January 2025
Membership is required for all students. All memberships will be renewed in September annually. New students will be charged the membership fee for the current year when they register for classes. Membership can also be purchased here.
Children 5 – 12 $20 Teens 13 – 17 $25 Adults 18+ $30
Fees must be paid in full before the start of the class. Per diem payment is only allowed for our Friday monitored drawing group or specified open studios. Please note that classes with faculty and models require preparation and planning that tuition fees make possible.
We ask that a Student Registration Form be completed in its entirety when class begins.
Studio Time is available in some disciplines, to be arranged with a faculty member or staff member. Studio Time is only available when a staff or faculty member is on site at the facility. Students are not permitted to use the studios without a prior arrangement. Please inquire for details.
Advanced Mentoring Program: Flexible blocks of class time may be available to advanced students of 3+ years of membership with the prior approval of both the specific faculty member (mentor) and ACNNJ Administration. Fees must be paid in full before the start of any class period. Please contact the Center to apply for consideration in this program. A history of study with one current faculty member as well as timely payment of course fees is essential to qualify.
Auditing a class prior to purchase: For classes without a live figure model, individuals are invited to audit one class before purchasing. Auditing a class must be arranged in advance with either the faculty member or a staff member. Please plan to observe respectfully without utilizing any arts materials. For figure classes, auditing is not permitted to respect the privacy of our models.
Class schedules: Classes at the Art Center run consecutively on a 4-week monthly cycle. Exceptions are Stone Carving class, which is on an 8-week cycle, and the Monitored Drawing Group, which is on going and welcomes per diem students. Upcoming dates will be posted 10 days prior to the start of the new cycle and may be purchased online or paid for at the beginning of the new cycle. In some offerings, 2 concurrent 4-week cycles may be simultaneously released for purchase for the convenience of ongoing students.
If a student is ill, please stay home.
There are no refunds or make up dates unless classes are canceled by the Art Center.
School closures due to inclement weather will be posted in the banner at the top of our website. Make up dates may be provided when possible. If necessary, credit will be applied to the next cycle of classes.
