FINISH YOUR ARTWORK – A Mentoring Class

SATURDAY – 9:30am – 3:30pm $75 (plus $10 material fee)
(1/2 hr. break- Bring your Lunch)
Create a new collage, assemblage or sculpture OR bring one or two finished (or unfinished) art works from home for critiquing and further development. Find out whether you could push the artistic boundaries further and put finishing touches on the project with paint, papers, adhesives, mat board, wood or textile scraps. All levels of students are welcome, from a “never ever”- ready to try something new and exciting, to advanced artists. Bring your own oil or acrylic paints and brushes (for paintings); other materials are included.

MIXED MEDIA PAINTING

This workshop will familiarize students with oil & water-based mediums, through group discussions, individual critiques and demonstrations. Students will be led through a series of intellectual, cognitive and physical exercises that seek to strengthen individual creative skills step by step. Students will create an artwork that demonstrates their own individualized concepts, feelings, viewpoints, style and techniques by using various visual languages and materials.

CAPTURING THE BLOOM: PHOTOGRAPHING FLOWERS

This workshop will address the fundamentals of photographing flowers. The basic concepts of photography, including equipment selection, will be discussed. The emphasis will be on the use of depth of field, composition and lighting to create esthetically pleasing and artistically creative images. Participants are also encouraged to bring their digital camera and lenses, including a micro lens if available, a tripod and flash and also prints of their own work to the class.

Explore the exciting possibility of painting the figure in watercolor using a simplified approach and emphasizing drawing of a live model. The instructor will guide you to capturing the model’s unique character. Notes on the figure and face will be provided.
