  • Geoffrey Browne

Sylvie G. Covey

Sylvie Covey is a Master Printer and a printmaking Professor at the Fashion Institute of Technology and a Printmaking Instructor at the Art Students league of New York and the The Art Center of Northern New Jersey. She owns a printmaking studio in Times Square, Manhattan, where she pursues her work in all media, and currently concentrates on combining digital and photographic techniques with printmaking. She also wrote and currently teaches a new course in Photoshop software,‘ photoshop for artists’. Her work has been exhibited all over the world.

Edla Cusick

Born in Manhattan, Bryn Mawr College,BA., she studied the National Academy School of Design & Fine Art, the Art Students League, a life time member of the Art Students League & twice included in the ASL annual exhibit.In addition to teaching at the Art Center of Northern New Jersey she runs a Community Painting class at Hartley House in Hell’s Kitchen, NY for 15 yrs.She also teaches a seniors oil painting class at Temple Emanuel’s Skirball Center and a number of private students of all ages.

Peggy Dressel

Peggy Dressel studied at Pratt Institute, NYC, AOS, The National Academy of Design, NYC  and Moore College of Art, PA. She has exhibited and received numerous awards for her paintings in juried exhibitions and galleries. Peggy’s paintings are represented in over a hundred private and corporate collections. Her biographical information is included in Who’s Who in the World and Who’s Who in America. She has been featured in American Artist Magazine, April 2007 and May 2007.  She is a member of the Degas Pastel Society, the AAPL, the Oregon Pastel Society, and a signature member of the Southeastern Pastel Society and teaches at various other art organizations along with a number of watercolor & pastel classes at the Art Center of Northern New Jersey.

Jim Edmonds

Photographer, Sculptor and Printmaker Jim Edmonds says that art allows him to explore who he is, where is he going and how he fits into the universe. Edmonds has taught at the Art Center of Northern NJ for many years. The class he teaches, ‘Photography – Technique & Darkroom’, extends this perspective to his students and their lives. The Englewood born teacher, a graduate of the School of Visual Arts, NYC and now a Teaneck resident, has exhibited throughout New York and New Jersey.

Candi Feinberg

Candi Feinberg attended Montclair State University and The School of Visual Arts. She started to formally study art at age twelve when she took life drawing and still life painting at the Heritage Gallery in South Orange with Pauline Lorentz and John Grabach. She administrated and participated in Artist’s Workshops in Montana for eighteen years where she had the opportunity to study with many contemporary American and European artists. Her work is in many private collections and can be viewed at the Lena De Gange Gallery in Totowa, New Jersey.

Christine Ferriera Friedman

A watercolorist and pastel artist who has been influenced by her stay in Jamaica, West Indies as well as her residence in New Mexico. She has a degree in Fine Art from the Rhode Island School of Design, the University of New Mexico, Tamarind Institute of Lithography in New Mexico. She has held membership in the prestigious National Art organizations and State Art organizations in NY & NJ artists’ circle. Her works have won honorary acclaim in state jury shows and have been exhibited in several fine art museums in ‘The Great Southwest’ and New York, New Jersey. At present she teaches art classes privately and at the Art Center of Northern New Jersey.

Natalie Frier

In 1990, Natalie was invited to participate in the 17th International Stone Sculpture Symposium in Iwate, Japan. During a one-month period she completed a three thousand pound granite sculpture “Reflection”, which is permanently exhibited in the Chokoku-no-Mori (stone sculpture park), an affiliate of the Hakone Open-Air Museum. Her works have been exhibited in galleries and juried shows throughout New England. “Nexus” received the Merchants Bank and Trust Co. Award in a nine-state show at the Silvermine Guild Center for the Arts in Connecticut. Hilton Kramer, former art editor for the New York Times said, “‘Nexus’ effects simplicity and symbolism in an abstract medium.” Her works are exhibited in the Piermont Fine Arts Gallery in Piermont, New York. In January of 2003, she exhibited her work in a solo sculpture show at the Belskie Museum of Art and Science in Closter, New Jersey. Her professional affiliations include Sculpture Affiliates of the Art Center of Northern New Jersey and Salute to Women in the Arts. She is a board member of the Art Center of Northern New Jersey and president of the Piermont Fine Arts Gallery. Currently she teaches stone carving with hand and power tools at the Art Center of Northern New Jersey.

Hedy’ O’ Beil Gersten

A passionate and expressive artist who has a very impressive record of exhibitions, solo shows and many honors and awards, too numerous to mention but can be found in Who’s Who in America 2000 –1985. A Member of many professional organizations, she is presently lecturing and conducting Art Tours of Museums and Galleries in NYC.

Madeline Giotta

Madeline graduated form the Trenton State University with BS in education and was an Elementary school teacher for more than 30 years. She completed her Masters degree in Art and Art Teaching Certification from Montclair University. She studied further at The Arts Students League and the School of Visual Arts. She received a college scholarship to study art and culture in Switzerland and Italy. She continues her artistic efforts in printmaking, oil painting and sewing. From 2004 she has taught children’s art classes for Ramsey Adult School and the Art Center of Northern New Jersey.

Myra Grosinger

Myra Grosinger is a master Art teacher spanning 26 years teaching Art in NYC high schools and New Milford NJ public schools. She has a BFA from Pratt Institute and MA Brooklyn College. She is an exhibiting artist showing sculpture and paintings throughout the metropolitan area, winner of the Prestige Grumbacher Award. A member of Painting & Sculpture Affiliates & lots of works in private collections. She has been teaching a number or classes children at the Art Center of Northern NJ for over 20 years.

Max Horbund

Max Horbund has been a professional artist/oil painter for over two decades and has been featured in galleries and museums around the world. His work is included in more than a hundred private and public collections. Max served on the Board of the Art Students League of New York for 15 years and as President of the League for three. Max has been represented by galleries in America and Japan. He currently resides in Closter, works at his studio in Tenafly New Jersey and is currently an instructor at the Art Center of Northern NJ at New Milford.

Ben Horodner

Ben Horodner’s interest in art has changed over the last 40 years and grown from two dimensional print making and photography to three dimensional working in stone – marble, alabaster and plaster. He studied from the Hunter College, NY. NYC Community college AAS, the Art Students League, NY Life Member, Art Center of Northern New Jersey where he is teaches. He encourages the use of maquettes as starting point in making sculpture. His goal is to de-mystify the process of sculpture and emphasize the use of two dimensional materials for inspiration.

Tom Parkes

Tom Parkes is an award-winning painter designer and watercolorist, receiving the John Singer Sargent Award for traditional watercolor at the Ridgewood National Juried CAA show of 2003 and most recently, the Jack Richeson Gold Award for watercolor at the 2005 show. He has studied drawing and painting at the Art Students League with Frank J. Reilly, watercolor with Mel Stabin A. S. W. and Eli Rosenthal. He has taught watercolor at the Art School at the Old Church in Demarest and “Drawing the Human Figure” from his home and at the Art Center of Northern NJ.

Marcia Rieff

Marcia studied art and painting at Pratt Institute and attained a BFA at The New School for Social Research/ Parsons School of Design specializing in Graphic Design, Packaging and Photography.Over 30 years, Marcia has worked as a designer and packaging Art Director for major companies.Upon retiring she returned to her passion of painting watercolors, is on several Art Committees, assistant art teacher to Special Needs Children at the Art School at the Old Church in Demarest, NJ and currently teaching watercolor painting at Art Center of Northern New Jersey, New Milford, NJ.

Elizabeth Rundquest

Elizabeth is a painter and a psychotherapist/art therapist. Her education includes both longtime study of art, including the Art Student’s League under Leo Manso, Robert Beverly Hale; and Lee Bontecue at Brooklyn College, where she matriculated in the CUNY Program, holding a BS in Fine Arts and Art History. She has a Masters Degree from New York University in Art Therapy, and holds a Certificate of Completion from the International School of Psychotherapy, in Washington, D.C. The making of art is a central focus for her as is her professional practice as a therapist and aids others through their lives through art. She also does various Art Therapy based workshops at the Art Center of Northern New Jersey

Johanna Saloman

Johanna has been teaching art for about 20 years and been a Gallery Curator in NY and NJ. She is a member of many Professionl Art Affiliations and has juried exhibits through out the tri-state area. She has been listed in Who’s who in American Art and Who’s Who in American Women Editions. Winner of various Awards such as the prestigious Grumbacher Award, the Winsor Newton Award. She Studies art at the Art Students League,NY, The Bergen Community College, NJ and the Art Center Of Northern NJ and also teaches at the Art Center of Northern NJ.

John Varriano

An award wining artist who was recently featured in American Artist Magazine, Feb 2007. He is a commissioned portrait, landscape and still life artist who’s work hang in many public and private collection in the US, Europe and Indonesia. Presently he teaches figure drawing and painting in NYC, the NJ Center for Visual Arts and the Art Center of Northern NJ.
