FIGURE IN CLAY

Exploring the human form using various ceramic sculpture techniques. Each week students will make 5-10” figurative feature from photographic references or live model. i.e. Half-life torso/life size head/hands and feet/miniature standing figure. The class will be focused on developing an understanding of sculptural language. The works can be fired in the kiln at a later time.

 

INTERMEDIATE AND ADVANCED WATERCOLOR
with Christine Friedman – 10 wks starting  Jan. 11

Develop your own style in this exciting spontaneous medium. Classes stress the importance of design, composition, value studies and color theory. Learn to achieve glowing colors and light in your painting. Personal assistance, drawing instruction, painting demonstration and individual critiques weekly.

 

PRINTMAKING

This class covers advanced techniques of all contemporary printmaking including intaglio, polymer and solar photo etching, mono-print, relief, lithography, collagraph, photo polyester and Fuji photo lithography and digital photo transfers Special attention is given to projects with color separation and multi-color plates. ALL LEVELS WELCOME!

 

OIL PAINTING: STILL LIFE, FIGURE, AND PORTRAIT

Learn to represent the figure and portrait using classic chiaroscuro and modern concepts. Using live models, the focus is on representing the human form and portrait using careful observation, a system of symbolic anatomy and lessons gained from painting still life forms and other textures from life. This class features a One Room Schoolhouse environment where newer painters benefit from exposure to advanced painters, serious critics, and continuous promotion of fundamental basic concepts. Frequent demonstrations and lectures on painting technique and the safe preparation and handling of professional level artist materials. Special attention is given to the Art School bound and the needs of professional painters.
