BASIC MATERIAL FOR ETCHING
(For advance students speak to the instructor)

  • Copper Plate
  • Etching Needle, Scraper, Burnisher
  • Etching Inks – Black
  • Tarlatan
  • New Print Pad
  • Printing Paper: Rives, BFK, Arches
  • Apron, gloves
  • Sandpaper

BASIC MATERIAL FOR PHOTO ETCHING:

  • All of the above for (Etching)
  • A Positive halftone black & white image on acetate.
    ( It can be Xeroxed on acetate or computer laser print on acetate or Digital halftone or Litho film with halftone screen 851.dot)

MATRIAL FOR RELIEF PRINTMAKING:

  • Woodcut / Linocut
  • Blocks: 12” X 16’
  • Fruitwood – Cherry, Pear
  • White woods – Bass, Poplar
  • Common – Clear, Pine
  • Carving Tools
  • Knife, Gouges, Chisel
  • Brayers, Rollers
  • Paper for printing

WATERCOLOR MONOTYPE:

  • Paper: Arches 640gms; Rives white
  • Plate: Plexi glass which has sanded with 100grit sandpaper
  • Paint Windsor Newton/ Holbein/ Daniel Smith watercolor tubes

 


 

TAI – HWA – GOH – CONTEMPORARY PRINTMAKING – AN INTRODUCTION

  • Speedball linocut tool: For wood carving tool that is made from Sakura or  Cornell.
  • Wood blocks:  2 pieces of 6” x 8” x 14” birch plywood from lumberyard or Home Depot, Students may purchase from the instructor.
  • Linoleum: 2 pieces 6” x 8” (or larger), mounted or unmounted – find at local art store or www.dickblick.com
  • Printing papers: Newsprint pad (18” x 24”), light drawing papers, 10 sheets of sumie papers (11” x 9”), Japanese papers (students may purchase from the instructor) or Rives light-weight, found at local art stores or www.dickblick.com
  • Misc.
    • Chipboard
    • Wooden spoon, tracing paper, wax paper
    • 8×10 (or larger) plexi glass piece (glass piece is ok but plexi glass is preferable) or disposable palette. 1 or 2 tube(s) of speedball block printing ink: black + one extra color
    • Ruler
    • Latex gloves, apron
    • Black marker, black drawing ink, brushes
    • White conte or crayons, pencils, erasers
    • Sketchbook
    • Portfolio (larger than prints)
    • Shop rags (one pack from Home Depot) or 1 roll of paper towel
    • Masking tape

    *(Other supplies will definitely be needed but they depend on student’s individual interest)
